Abby earned her undergraduate degree from Miami University in 1994 and her J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law in 1997.
Abby focuses her practice on general labor matters and counseling clients in all aspects of the employment relationship and compliance with employment laws. She has experience in particular with FMLA and medical and disability issues in the workplace, technology issues, drug testing, employment discrimination and employee discipline matters. Abby represents employers in related labor arbitrations, administrative and judicial proceedings and values working preemptively with clients to manage litigation risks.
In addition, Abby regularly conducts workforce training on issues related to non-discrimination and anti-harassment principles, managing medical issues and leaves of absence in the workplace, and managing other workplace concerns. In her work with governmental entities, Abby has worked with medical issues unique to public employers, including litigation of disability pension matters. She regularly counsels public employers on matters implicating a myriad of state and federal laws regulating specific aspects of governance, including numerous appeals before the Illinois Public Access Counselor under the Freedom of Information and Open Meetings Acts. Abby also provides advice to public school districts and institutes of higher education on a wide range of employment, student and operational issues.
